Primary Care Benzo Support website curator…

Welcome, my name is Charlie Freeman, I live and work in East Sussex UK, and  I curate this website.

I am an NHS mental health nurse who from 2007-2014 worked with Brighton & Hove Clinical Commissioning Group’s Medicines Management Team and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s Substance Misuse Service in providing specialist GP support.

This work included benzodiazepine and z-drug GP liaison and also brief intervention with illicit users, high dose users and complex cases.

I also developed technological approaches for enhanced prescribing audit – the ‘Analysis & Stabilisation Report’ (AnSR) was created for quickly identifying patterns in a surgery’s prescribing to find patients who may be significantly overusing prescriptions and may require a supportive intervention.

I designed this website in my own time in the course of my work in Brighton. This website was originally titled ‘Brighton Benzo Support’ as when working in that role the site also provided local specific resources.

I now work as a Primary Care Mental Health Practitioner at Health in Mind, a Sussex Partnership IAPT (Improving Access To Psychological Therapies) service in East Sussex.

The content of this site is provided freely for the benefit of clinicians and their patients, and independently of my role at Health in Mind.
